The Nation's Leading Provider of the Pillar Procedure

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Snoring Center do?
The Snoring Center specializes in minimally invasive treatments for snoring and sleep apnea.

What treatment options do you offer?
We offer a variety of minimally invasive treatment options and continually incorporate new options as they become available. Unlike dentists with oral appliances, or sleep labs with CPAP, we offer a variety of solutions such as: the Pillar Procedure, Turbinate Coblation, Laser Tonsillectomy, Oral Appliances, and Home Sleep Studies.

Is the Snoring Center a Sleep Lab?
No, we specialize in practical solutions for snoring and sleep apnea, not overnight sleep studies or CPAP.

Is the Snoring Center in network with my insurance plan?
No. We are not in network with any insurance plans. But if you have a Flex Spending Account, or a Health Savings Account, you can likely pay for our services with “pre tax dollars”. Our treatment options are surprisingly affordable, and our treatment protocols are designed to be as efficient and streamlined as possible. In fact, for many patients with high deductibles, our treatments often cost less than many “covered services”.

What is snoring?
Snoring is noise caused by vibration of soft tissue in the back of the throat. Snoring is very common, and can be the cause of significant relationship problems. Bed partners of snorers lose over an hour of sleep per night. Snoring couples report lower marital satisfaction and decreased sexual intimacy. Even single people suffer from snoring during social outings, business travel, and vacations.

What is Sleep Apnea?
Sleep Apnea is a serious medical disease characterized by loud snoring and repeated stop breathing spells. It occurs when the soft tissue in the throat vibrates enough to not only cause loud snoring, but to actually block off (obstruct) the airway. During these periods of obstruction, the oxygen level in the blood can drop to dangerously low levels.

Is Sleep Apnea dangerous?
Yes! Sleep Apnea has been linked to an increased risk of high blood pressure, heart attack, and stroke. It is also associated with obesity and diabetes. In addition, because people with sleep apnea are often excessively tired during the day, they have a markedly increased risk of workplace and automobile accidents.

I have sleep apnea – what are my treatment options?
Generally accepted treatment options include: CPAP, UPPP Surgery, minimally invasive treatments [Pillar Procedure, Laser Tonsillectomy, Turbinate Coblation], and Oral Appliances .

Can I fly in and fly out on the same day as my procedure?
Yes, many patients do. It is quite safe and convenient to fly in to DFW Airport or Love Field Airport. Please find directions to our offices from these airports here.
